Karen Conchie
Founder & President
After working as an Executive Assistant for more than twenty years, Karen needed a change. With a love for clean, sparkling spaces and attention to detail, honed in her years as an Executive Assistant she soon realized that she had all the skills needed to run a successful cleaning business. Soon after, “The Cleaning Ladies” was born.
Over the last several years, her passion has grown the business to an impressive size with the help of a fantastic team who she says, aren’t just employees, they are family. She cares deeply for others and has a big heart.
When it comes to her clients, she offers the best possible quality for a fair price and will go out of her way to make sure her clients are satisfied with the entire experience from start to finish. Karen lives out in the country with her soul mate and husband Doug and their beloved dog Jakson. Together they share a love of traveling and the outdoors.
Emma Fitzsimmons
General Manager
Organized and efficient, Emma Fitzsimmons makes an excellent addition to The Cleaning Ladies team.
Though Emma spent most of her career in childcare, working her way up to Assistant Supervisor and then managing her home daycare, she is stepping back from her life in Early Childhood Education to make clients’ homes sparkle and shine. Working with children doesn’t come without challenges, but Emma managed them with ease.
Now, as General Manager, she brings those same skills to the table while assisting and managing the cleaning team. It is important to her that every job is done well, and she takes great pride in her work, leaving no corner untouched.
Married and with two children, five and eight-year-old boys and a basset hound/pug mix named Moose, Emma loves to spend time with her family, camping and going on adventures.
Wendy Mackewn
Manager, Human Resources
With a career in the service industry spanning more than thirty years and a manager for the majority of those years, Wendy Mackewn brings substantial expertise to The Cleaning Ladies team. Wendy is a caring leader who has the remarkable ability to be calm under pressure and ease concerns, no matter the situation.
True to form, she works well with clients and staff and treat’s them with kindness and compassion. Despite her empathetic nature, she is very goal-oriented, a fast learner, and is always up for new challenges.
When she is not working with The Cleaning Ladies team, Wendy likes to unwind by painting, crafting, or gardening, spending time at her cottage, or by traveling to warm destinations like the Caribbean. She also spends a lot of time with her family.
Married for more than thirty years and mom to two beautiful children, as well as seven grandchildren, she lives a full life, but family is important to her, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Stephanie DeRose
Sales Manager
With over 20 years of customer service experience, Stephanie brings her courteous and friendly manner to her role as sales manager. She earned her diploma in Travel and Tourism from Centennial College and put it to excellent use working in various roles in the Tourism and Hospitality industry.
Stephanie’s skills as a Sales Manager makes her a perfect addition to the team as she enjoys meeting new people, attending networking and social events, while building and developing relationships on a personal and professional level.
With her excellent communication skills, coupled with her goal-oriented drive to succeed, Stephanie brings a strong belief in a team-based approach to seizing business opportunities for The Cleaning Ladies and helping the company thrive in the Durham Region.
Married with 3 beautiful daughters and fur-mom to a cocker spaniel named Tucker and a Tabby cat named Carmen, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family, ice skating and cottaging on Georgian Bay.
